Daybreak Disco?

Okay, for the record I’ve never owned a lime-green suit jacket before. While working at KLTV in Tyler, Texas back in 2001 co-anchors and I wondered what our newscast would have looked like had it been 1979.

Well, our lovely graphics department decided to have some fun that morning. We actually showed this picture on the air. Jennifer Brice (KSEE) had a lovely bee-hive, Morgan (KLTV) had the mullet, and I had the afro. If you look close enough, you can even see a cameo from Erik Estrada on Jennifer’s mug. Fun stuff. :)

Ernesto causes a traffic back up

Tropical Storm Ernesto came ashore in South Florida this morning with little fanfare. If anything the alligators and pelicans are waking up to a little more water.

However, this system will have an effect on much of the country (especially east of the Mississippi River). As it moves northward, heavy rain and thunder is expected from the New England states straight down to Georgia.

A front over the Northern Plains will stall out as the traffic light turns red. This should provide much of the Midwest with pleasant weather through the first half of the Labor Day weekend.

WeatherFirst

Today marks the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall in Gulfport/Biloxi, Mississippi. CNN has a very nice anniversary section on their website that has a plethora of interactive features including video and images.

All eyes are in the Florida straits as Tropical Storm Ernesto churns up the waters. It will likely come ashore just south of Miami as a strong tropical storm or weak category one hurricane. You wouldn’t know that the worst threat is heavy rainfall as all cable news networks are forecasting the worst storm within the past year.
