We shoveled about 5 inches at 1:30 pm today. Currently have about 2 more inches as of 5:30 pm. Didn’t see this one coming!

Well there are two things working for the high snow totals at this point. First of all we have a high snow to water ratio (notice how the snow is very light and fluffy). Also, the low is really taking its time as it was cutoff from the main flow, thus it has been sitting over the region for quite some time.

WI Weather Buff, depending on your location, do you know anything about driving conditions on Rt 50 between Lake Geneva and Kenosha tonight? Looks like they are still getting snow but do you know anything about the total snowfall there or the drifting/icing conditions on the roadways?

molly — nope, sorry! I know exactly where you’re talking about, but haven’t been that way recently.

It looks like the WI DOT is reporting “slippery stretches” on virtually all roads in that part of the state … but there isn’t a specific report I could find on Hy 50.

Appreciate the reply- as our families travel back home tonight I was grateful for Aaron’s admonishing us that HE wouldnt travel unless he had to tonight. That area N+E of us is under the warning yet.

WWB, thanks. I am going to sign off and do some admonishing of my own. We’ll see if we can keep our adventurous daughter from driving off into the storm…at least till morning.

In Dixon and surrounding area we have had about 7 inches of snow since 4:30am. My daughter went to work in Dixon at 5:00pm and said the roads where bad.
