During my “dinner break” (appropriate tonight), I headed to the Winnebago County Fair in Pecatonica. Lemme tell ya, I HAVE to have a pork chop sandwich from the Stephenson County Pork Producers tent at their fair. At the Winnebago County Fair, I’ve got to visit with Allen and Sharon Ferling who run Burritt Meat Products. If you’re lost, just look for someone in a pig costume…then you’ll know you’re in the right place. They get only a few hours of sleep each night of the fair because they serve breakfast in the morning and then grill all day for fairgoers.
From jambalaya to hamburgers and hotdogs, Philly cheesesteaks to ribs, they’ve got it and lemme tell ya, IT’S GOOD! It’s so good they go through 1,700 pork chops, 1,100 servings of pulled pork, 850 hamburgers, and 32 slabs of ribs all cooked using nearly a ton of Kingsford Charcoal. Now that’s a serious BBQ Alert! -ES
