9:30pm – Our first winter storm is exiting to the east tonight. However, some impressive snow totals have been received including 6.5 inches for Stockton and Loves Park and 6.0 inches for downtown Rockford.
The wind will be pretty gusty overnight, forming new snow drifts on already plowed roads so be sure to give yourself plenty of extra time for the morning commute. Snowfall rates continue to diminish from west to east with the accumulating snow exiting east along the IL23 corridor from Harvard to Marengo, Genoa to DeKalb-Sycamore. This will continue to move eastward in the next hour or two.
Additional light snow and snow showers are anticipated overnight with another dusting possible. Temperatures will fall quickly to around 10 degrees late tonight. Wind chills could peak around -10 by morning.
