A light mix of rain and snow is in the forecast for northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin on Sunday. The precipitation will be on and off, primarily in the morning and afternoon hours. With temperatures hovering at or just above freezing during the morning, the precipitation could fall as just snow for a time. However, accumulations are expected to be light and in many places, non-existent. Jo Daviess County and Green County have the best chance locally for any accumulating snow. Roads will become wet, but hazardous travel conditions are not expected. If you do have plans to travel north into Wisconsin or Minnesota, snow will be an issue north of Madison. Parts of northern Wisconsin could pick up over 8 inches of snow.
By Sunday afternoon, our temperatures will warm to 40 degrees, so the bulk of the precipitation will fall in the form of light rain. It looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer to see that first inch of snow in Rockford!
