Warmth continues through the last week of 2012

Our amazingly warm weather pattern is expected to continue through Christmas. This does not bode well for our chance of a white Christmas here in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Our next system coming this weekend is expected to bring widespread rain with accumulating snow from Mason City, IA to La Crosse and Rhinelander, WI.

Above are a few snapshots of our ensemble forecast. Ensembles allow us to merge numerous reliable computer models into one, generalized picture. The first is from this Thursday when areas of the Midwest will be 10-15 degrees above normal! The pattern of above-normal temperatures does not appear to be going anywhere with only Western Canada seeing bitterly cold weather.
