Today is a day to look forward to a brand new year and a chance to start things over. In the case of our weather, that means a look forward to well below average temperatures for the first week of 2013. That is exactly the opposite picture that December 2012 painted for us. Our average high temperature was 40.3°, which is 7.1° above average. Our average low was 33.4°, which is 8.0° above average. Combine these two impressive totals and that ends up being the 5th warmest December on record. We also set the record for the highest temp ever recorded in Rockford during December. This occurred on December 3rd with a high of 69°. -Greg

We have over a foot to a foot and a half of frost in the ground because all the fields have been windswept of snow and there’s hardly any snow cover left. In addition, we have had lots of cold nights. How will snow help us with reversing the drought if there’s already frost in the ground? Thanks.
