Did you know…??? Full Moon names date back to Native Americans, of what is now the northern and eastern United States. The tribes kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full Moon. Their names were applied to the entire month in which each occurred. Since the lunar month is only 29 days long on the average, the full Moon dates shift from year to year.
Full Beaver Moon - November This was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for winter.
It is sometimes also referred to as the Frosty Moon. It gets its name from northern autumnal ground frost, which glistens beautifully in pale moonlight.
On that note… There is a full moon tonight. Frost on the ground to make things sparkle and shine, maybe not. But since temperatures will be below freezing tonight, you should head outside and enjoy the Frosty Moon… or if you need to set Beaver traps, then enjoy the Beaver Moon.

I do know that the full moon is very very bright tonight. Isn’t that called a harvest moon.
I was driving around 5 p.m., and it was gorgeous, really low in the sky.
Well, this year it pretty much is a Harvest Moon … since the fields have been so wet that farmers are still trying to get the harvest done!
I think usually the previous full moon (the one in October) is often called the Harvest Moon.
A beautiful full moon it is too! I took a long walk by the moonlight this eve and marveled at the bright full moon.
I think my dogs are getting ready to have a howl-fest too (any excuse will do — Full Moon, that’s a good one).
Wi Weather Buff: you are exactly right.
I know I was in our kitchen earlier and almost thought I was hearing howling but there are no dogs outside by our house. So I must have been just hallucinating or something. It is a beautiful moon though.
It could have been coyotes. There’s a big problem with coyote overpopulation around here right now. In the country you can see them everywhere (and beside the road as vehicle casualties), but they are wandering further into the cities too (just like deer, which also are overpopulated).
Well I know my sister said she thought she heard them, but I am almost wondering if maybe it was just my TV in my bedroom because I did have the WS game on also.
