The National Weather Service has just upgraded the Winter Weather Advisory to a Warning for Winnebago, Ogle, DeKalb, Boone, and McHenry. This is mainly due to the fact that during the midday hours, snow could fall at rates in excess of one inch per hour. Snowfall forecast remains unchanged with general 4-8 inch totals. However, this still hinges on the fact that our snowfall won’t be a really light, fluffy snow. Should the atmosphere cool sufficiently aloft, snowfall rates could remain at or above 1″/hour for much of the afternoon causing our forecast to be upped to 6-10 inches. Please check back with later forecasts as the storm arrives.
Again, snow will not begin until around 7am at the earliest in Rockford. -ES
