Happening Now: Tornado nearing northern Minneapolis

(8:44:56 PM) nwsbot: MPX: Elk River [Sherburne Co, MN] trained spotter reports TSTM WND DMG at 08:10 PM CDT — sheds… rides… tents down and blown over at sherburne county fair

A tornado warning is in effect for northern portions of Minneapolis. Storms pushing through are in a favorable environment to produce tornadic activity for the next few hours. Closer to home, storms will push in overnight but will likely not be severe. I will continue monitoring the situation as storms progress through the evening.

I have this weekend off and am visiting some friends in the Twin Cities… I got caught in it! Well…not the tornado but the severe t-storm. Was almost to my friend’s place when Ramsey County blew their sirens.

Later found out that communities were sounding sirens for the WIND not just for the tornado warning.
