Rainy Season beginning soon

Did you know that almost twice as much precipitation falls in March than February? Typically, February is the driest month here in Rockford with an average melted total of 1.34 inches. Typically in March and April, southerly winds will bring more moisture into the region from the Gulf of Mexico increasing our rainfall amounts considerably. It’s this increase in rainfall that will bring life to the vegetation that has been dormant since October. Typically, the first signs of spring (green underbrush in wooded areas) will be faint at the end of this month and really blossom in April. -ES
