Tornado strikes near Stillman Valley Sunday night

The National Weather Service has confirmed a very short-length, EF-1 tornado in Ogle County, just north of the town of Stillman Valley. The path width was 50-100 yards wide with top winds around 110mph. The location is 2.9 miles north of Stillman Valley. According to a survey team, the tornado took out dual wood truss electrical transmission towers, tore off the gable and part of the roof of a house, peeled shingles from a few houses, and knocked down trees and limbs. In addition, truck trailers were also overturned.

The strewn damage is consistent with that done by a tornado, not straight-line wind damage. -ES
